OUR LADY OF FATIMA SCHOOL ALUMNI HOMECOMING 2015

Welcome Remarks: Mr. Cosme Valera Taberdo

President OLFS Alumni

Class '81; Valedictorian

Fellow alumni, members of the different batches, friends, Good Evening.

“Returning home is the most difficult part of a long-distance hiking; You have grown outside the puzzle and your piece no longer fits.”

So, the long wait is over.   Welcome Home alumni!

It is a pleasure to see you all my co-alumni of the Our Lady of Fatima School.

Alumni homecoming is traditionally a time of togetherness, sharing of stories.

This year’s Grand Alumni Homecoming, promises to be exciting and rewarding experience. We come back home to relive and reminisce the many old memories of our stay here in our dear institution.

Homecoming is to see old friends, meet new ones, to see about the many changes happening in the institution we once considered a second home.

Homecoming, we remember the people we met, the interesting things they did, and things we did together. I believe that each one of us has his own stories to tell, to them tonight and tomorrow.

We are all excited to meet one another. Some who are here, came all the way from the United States, Singapore, Dubai, left their work temporarily just to be with us.

Yes, time flies. So much have changed. Our looks, our receding hairlines, our waist-lines, our addresses.

Friends, "There are big ships, there are small ships; But there is no ship like friendship"

For many years, our beloved school has nurtured young men and women. Fatima has sent forth professional alumni who carry the Fatima values and spirit with them as they pursue their lives and careers here and abroad.

Ensuring and facilitating the continual bonding of our alumni is also one among the many objectives of the association. It was not an easy job trying to locate all our classmates. Thanks to social media, the internet, the Facebook. I sincerely wish our homecoming would be a memorable event for every one of us.

Homecoming is also a rare occasion, to meet our former mentors/teachers. Some are here tonight, as a tribute, let us give them sounding round of applause. Thank you our dear teachers, without you, we may not have reached our dreams. The alumni takes interest in maintaining close ties with you. Thank you for joining us!

I know you are all eager to have fun tonight. But let me say a few words more and I really have to say this. My thank you to some special people, To Ms. Evelyn Garcia-Dela Cerna, ’77, she encourages me most of the time, she used to say, kaya natin yan, let’s make it memorable. She gives her unsolicited advice/comments even at the middle of night, wee hours sometimes. She works with passion and great concern. One time she asked me, is it OK na, on the other side? For me, I learned one big thing from her, “short time of doing things” doesn’t work. You have to plan it out your strategies way ahead of time. Thank you to Mayor Victorino ‘Jun’ Barona (we call each other ‘Buk’), always there/visible sa mga meetings, giving support. To Allen and Bing Mayuga who quietly worked behind the scene. Ng Libeth Bello-Angel, truly a friend to us.Thank you to all the Class and Cluster Coordinators. To all the members of the committees. To the Board of Trustees and Officers. To my ever supportive partner, Angie. To you all, my dear Alumni. You all made this occasion possible.

Our thank you to the Fatima Administration. Fr Floro Bautista, Ma’am Fe Batoon, the teachers and students.

Once again, welcome home our dear alumni.

And thank you for your presence!!!!!
